Resonant Fascia

Your body holds the stories the mind forgot

The body is the door, movement is the key

For our ancient ancestors, movement meant survival. As a civilization required to hunt and gather the next meal, their bodies were the tool by which life was accomplished. Movement meant food, shelter, and safety. To ancient peoples, body movement was also incorporated into ceremony and rituals, making intentional movement and dance an important part of culture and daily life.

In our modern day life, we have forgotten the significance of this and we have all but eliminated diversity of movement in our lives. We can now summon our next meal from the comfort of our own home with the swipe of a finger and a few steps to the door. We might exercise, copying or following work outs someone else gives us for a particular goal (weight loss or physical or mental health), but does your bodies actually feel good on a daily basis? Do you actually feel good in your body?

In her 12 years in practice, Dr. Nutt noticed that it wasn’t enough to mash around on muscles and expect people to have lasting change in their entire being. Maybe their pain went away, but it usually came back either in the same spot or somewhere else (everything in the body is connected after all). People still felt disconnected from their bodies. People were still stiff, tight, tense, and stressed. After years of learning, developing, and refining, Dr. Nutt came up with a technique that speaks to the body on a physical level, as well as emotional, spiritual, and energetic.

Resonant Fascia is a technique that combines joint exploration with vocal activation to move tension through the body through the complex and beautiful fascial system. The fascial system is the fluid network that connects the entire body. It is highly innervated and intelligent. The fascia carries the memory of physical and emotional traumas in the form of tension. The fascia is what holds everything we couldn’t or wouldn’t let go of in our lives. The fascia speaks to us constantly, but it doesn’t communicate in words. It understands movement and vibration-the two pillars of Resonant Fascia.

Dr. Nutt uses Resonant Fascia to guide her patients into body-led movement, letting sensation and feeling light the way. Using tension as a road map, participants bring their full intention, breath, and awareness into the landscape of the body, moving through what has been long held. The voice is then added to incorporate vibration into the system, moving tension through and out of the body.

Resonant Fascia is a deeply physical and emotional process because we are able to access things that have been held in the body since before we ourselves even had language for it. And because many of us have a pattern of holding, letting go and allowing ourselves to move and vocalize can be confronting. In doing this work, there is one theme that continues to surface: you cannot fully heal something by thinking about it alone. The body HAS to be involved. And you have all the tools within.

Dr. Nutt holds group Resonant Fascia containers as well as individual treatments.
